New York Trying To Deal With Doctors Who Commit Insurance Fraud

The state of New York is trying to take steps to deal with auto insurance fraud. The state is currently number two in terms of auto insurance fraud in the country. Number one is Florida. Auto insurance premiums rank number four as well.

The main problem that causes auto insurance fraud to keep happening in the state is that doctors are becoming criminals. The state has announced that they are currently investigating more than 130 medical professionals who are being investigated by the state for instances of auto insurance fraud.

The reason that this type of fraud slips by so many insurance adjusters is because most adjusters take the word of doctors as gospel. When drivers end up committing auto insurance fraud, they usually look for weak doctors that they can manipulate into helping them. For example, they look for doctors who have a lot of debt and are struggling financially. They might reach out to doctors that they know are very driven to succeed and live nice lifestyles. The doctors then will either open up a fake medical clinic or will sign medical documents for services that were never needed or given to the accident victim.

Once the doctor has billed the auto insurance company for all of the medical related expenses, the doctor will then get compensation and divide the money with the people who are committing the fraud. Many doctors get hooked on committing fraud because in essence they get something for absolutely nothing.

The state needs to investigate these doctors because they are bilking auto insurance companies out of millions of dollars each year. Doctors know a lot about medical terminology and can easily commit fraud. The state of New York will most likely be conducting undercover investigations to gather enough evidence to substantiate the insurance fraud.

It is important for drivers to be able to know that every day doctors are not costing them money by committing auto insurance fraud. The state should really consider adjusting its no fault insurance laws. Many doctors have gotten away with insurance fraud and are continuing to do so.

It is important for drivers to have affordable auto insurance premium rates because owning a car in New York is very expensive. It is important to be able to cut off the head of the snake. Doctors should have to justify the medical expenses for accident victims to the auto insurance companies.

Auto insurance companies need to be more vigilant with the amount of claims that doctors submit. Many doctors end up committing fraud on a large scale so that they can make as much money as they possible can.

Drivers need to be able to take a stand against insurance fraud. When an automobile accident takes place, drivers need to take the right steps to help reduce the likelihood that insurers will view them as trying to commit fraud. If you have been injured, then go to see your doctor or an emergency room immediately. This shows your auto insurer that you are trying to be open and honest with your accident claim. Always call the police so that the accident scene can be documented with statements and photographs. Hopefully, the state’s efforts will lower insurance premiums and instances of fraud soon.
