Are Young Male Drivers Really Better Drivers Than Female Drivers?

There has been a lot of debate recently about the subject of whether young female drivers are more responsible behind the wheel of a car than male young drivers are. As most people already know, drivers who are under the age of 25 pay more for their insurance premiums than older drivers do. This is because of their lack of experience behind the wheel.
Statistics have revealed that more than 5,500 people die each year
due to accidents involving distracted drivers. One major distraction that many young drivers use are cell phones. Many studies have revealed that young female drivers are more likely to use a device than a young male driver. This may be due to the fact that women are more social than men when it comes to text messaging and making phone calls.
In 2009, a study revealed that more than 448,000 people were injured in automobile accidents involving distracted young drivers. It is important to put this into perspective because many people think that women are worse drivers than men but this is not the case.
A study of both young male and young female drivers found that four percent of male drivers used an electronic device while driving while eight percent of young female drivers did. This shows that women are more likely to be involved in automobile accidents because of distractions. However, men are more likely to be involved in automobile accidents due to road rage and speeding.
Men are more aggressive when they drive than women are. Most people remember movies like Fast and Furious where the men drive very fast. Men are speed demons and they like to have a lot of horsepower behind the wheel of their cars so that they can put their foot on the accelerator and drive as fast as they possibly can. Quality Report found that young male drivers are three times more likely to be pulled over and cited for reckless driving than young female drivers.
Reckless driving related accidents are often very serious and can cause fatalities. This is due to the fact that the driver is driving at a very high speed and is driving erratically. When drivers do this, they often hit other vehicles head on and cause injuries or fatalities to occur.
A study found that males are 37% more likely to be involved in an automobile accident than women are. Young male drivers are paying more than young female drivers for their auto insurance coverage as well because they pose a bigger risk. Young males between the ages of 19 and 21 pay on average, 13 percent more than young female drivers the same age. They pay up to 50 percent more as their ages decrease and they have less driving experience.
Parents need to take a role in helping their young teen drivers learn much better driving habits. Automobile accidents happen every day and most are caused by either distractions or speed. It is important for parents to take away the keys from a teen if they are not following the rules of the road.
Most people have grown up with the notion that young female drivers are worse than males but auto insurers obviously do not agree. In a study of auto insurance premium rates, out of 98 insurance coverage providers, only four of them charged female drivers more than male ones.
It is important for drivers who are under the age of 25 need to take this issue very seriously. Your driving record and age say a lot about who you are as a driver. With the economy being in a bad place, many young drivers are struggling just to make ends meet because they are either attending high school or college classes or working part time jobs.
Young male and female drivers need to put away the electronic devices when they operate a vehicle. Some states have laws requiring that people do not use cell phones while driving. Many drivers use Blue tooth when they drive so that they do not have to pick up a handset while driving but this can often cause distractions as well. When a driver engages in a conversation with someone, they often lose their concentration because they are so deeply involved in talking to someone else.
Women often get into accidents such as fender benders because they do not see a stop light ahead of them so they hit the car in front of them while trying to make an abrupt stop at a light. It would really pay for young male drivers to take defensive driving classes and to drive shorter distances. If they can reduce the number of automobile crashes that they are in then the risk level for their entire age group will drop which can save the a lot of money.
